Anjum Chopra steers India to easy win

An unbeaten 49 off 96 balls, with six fours, by left-hander Anjum Chopra helped India beat England by five wickets, with 8.1 overs to spare, in the fourth Hero Honda one-day women's cricket match at the MIG Club in Mumbai on Monday.

England, batting first, could manage only 142 runs. They were bowled out in 48 overs despite a fine 55 off 109 balls with six fours by opener Arron Thompson, who became one of the three run-out victims in the England innings.

Others who were run-out were Arron's opening partner Caroline Atkins (28, 73 balls, 4x4) and Jackie Hawker (two).

Left-arm spinner Neetu David (4-13) was the most successful Indian bowler. She was well-supported by medium pacer Jhulan Goswami (2-26).

The Indians, who have already taken a winning 3-0 lead in the five-match series, had a poor start, losing opener Anju Jain for no score before Anjum along with Amrita Shinde (13), Mithali Raj (27), Hemlata Kala (18) and Mamata Maben (16) retrieved the situation and guided their team to victory in 41.5 overs.

Left-arm medium pacer Lucy Pearson (2-24) was the most successful bowler for the visitors while another left-arm pacer Dawn Holden and leg spinner Sarah Clarke picked up one wicket each.

The fifth and final one-dayer will be played at Pune on January 24.
