Mascarenhas's body to be
flown to California

The body of Mark Mascarenhas, the marketing agent of batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who died on Sunday in a road accident at Kharbi, about 80 km from Nagpur, will be flown to California for the last rites.

When contacted at Bhandara Civic Hospital, city doctor Sanjay Ugemuge, who had rushed to the spot with former Test cricketer Prashant Vaidya, said that after treating the body at the Mayo General Hospital, it would be flown to California via Mumbai.

Former cricketer Ravi Shastri would be arriving from Mumbai before the body is flown to California.

The three others travelling with Mascarenhas, John Pawson (50), Jonathan Marmagan (45) both from London, Baba Uday Singh (25) and driver Gulam Ali Mansoor Ali sustained minor injuries and were out of danger.

The WorldTel chief, who was travelling in a Tata Sumo, was on his way to Kanha National Park (Madhya Pradesh) from Mumbai when the front tyre of the vehicle burst at Kharbi, adjoining Bhandara district, police said.

The vehicle turned turtle and Mascarenhas died on the spot due to severe head injury.
