Dalmiya reelected CAB president
Board of Control for Cricket in India president Jagmohan Dalmiya was elected president of the Cricket Association of Bengal for the 11th consecutive year on Monday.
Facing a contest for the first time since he took over the post in 1991, he trounced Debdas Banerjee in the elections, held during the association's annual general meeting in Kolkata.
Banerjee, a former CAB joint secretary who later fell out with Indian cricket's strongman, had created a stir by
entering the fray against Dalmiya. However, in a straight contest, the former International Cricket Council president got 114 votes while Banerjee managed only five.
Dalmiya loyalists Bablu Koley and Sudhir Chakraborty were also reelected joint secretaries, with the third candidate
Samar Pal biting the dust.
Amitava Banerjee was elected unopposed as treasurer.
