About the town
Faridabad is a town located in the southeastern side of the state of Haryana, northwest of India. It is well connected by road with the capital Delhi (in the north).

It was founded in 1607 by Shaikh Farid, the Mughal Emperor Jahangir's treasurer, to protect the Delhi-Agra high road. By1867, the town became a municipality.

In 1950, it became a refugee resettlement colony for people affected by the partition.

Since then it has grown as a light industrial estate and today it is a local market for wheat, sugarcane, and cotton.

About the ground
The Nahar Singh Stadium, formerly known as the Mayur Stadium has been hosting first-class matches since 1982-83. So far more than 30 first-class matches have been played here.

Since January 1988 the ground has hosted five limited-over international matches.

India has a poor record having lost three of its four matches. The home team's only win (by 67 runs) came against Zimbabwe in 1993.
