Ganguly retained as skipper for Windies tour

Sourav Ganguly has been reappointed India's captain for the tour of West Indies which starts next month, Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah announced on Wednesday.

The Indian selectors made their decision at a meeting during the third one-day international against Zimbabwe in the southern city of Cochin.

Left-hander Ganguly, 29, had been under pressure because of his poor form with the bat but he won the approval of the selectors after making his first Test century as skipper earlier this month.

His first hundred in 18 Tests as captain came in the second Test in New Delhi and helped India to a 2-0 series victory over Zimbabwe.

India are scheduled to play five Tests and five one-day internationals on their tour of the Caribbean.

The Test squad will be announced later on Wednesday, Shah said.
