Gilchrist close to being Number One
Australia's Adam Gilchrist is just three points short of the number one spot in the latest world Test batting ratings.
Against a full-strength South African attack the scores of 138 not out and 24 that he posted in the Cape Town Test which finished on Tuesday, would have been enough to put Gilchrist top, but he remains tied in second place with Brian Lara.
In the bowling, Muttiah Muralitharan has stretched his lead over Glenn McGrath to six points, while Shane Warne, fourth on 762 points, is at his best rating for four years.
