Not disheartened as it is part and parcel of the game: Kumble

Ace leg spinner Anil Kumble on Wednesday said he is not disheartened by the broken jaw that forced him out of the ongoing series against the West Indies and added, "It is part and parcel of the game."

"I am alright now," the bowler told reporters on his arrival at the Bangalore airport from Mumbai in the early hours of Wednesday.

Kumble did not sport a bandage and had some difficulty in speaking.

"I have to see the surgeons today and the doctors will decide on it (surgery)," Kumble, who was received by his parents and wife at the airport, said.

Kumble had been hit on the jaw by a Mervyn Dillon short-pitched delivery while batting in the first innings on Saturday.

He fought off acute pain owing to a fractured jaw to bowl 14 overs unchanged on Sunday.

According to sources at the hospital where Kumble would undergo surgery, a team of dental specialists would examine him and then decide on when to perform the surgery.

The surgery is likely to be performed on Thursday.
