Srinath contemplating retirement from Test cricket
India's bowling spearhead Javagal
Srinath has put on hold a decision to retire from Test
cricket, Cricket Board sources in Bangalore said on Friday.
The 32-year-old fast bowler who was rested by the
selectors for the one-day series against the West Indies after India lost the five-match Test series 1-2 was to announce his decision to the media on Friday, but sources said BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya convinced Srinath to put the decision on hold for at least a day.
Meanwhile, reporters dashed off to Srinath's house to get first hand information. However, the speedster said he will make an announcement on Saturday evening.
Srinath is reported to have informed Chandu Borde, chairman of the board of selectors, that his services would be available for the 2003 World Cup.
Sources said Srinath, who has taken 232 wickets in 64 Tests, would be persuaded not to retire now.
