Bangladesh batsman Habibul Bashar, who missed out on his second successive hundred against Pakistan on Wednesday, has no regrets despite falling short by three runs.
The right-hander, who has been in prolific form in this series with scores of 71, 108 and 97 in three innings, said he was happy with his effort with Bangladesh reaching 240 for two at the close on the first day of the second Test.
"I think 97 runs is better than a zero. Although for the team I would have liked to score more runs."
Bashar, the only batsman to have scored two hundreds for Bangladesh, said he was confident of getting a hundred but lost his concentration for a moment.
Bashar brushed aside the feeling that conditions were unbearable for the players on the field at the Arbab Niaz stadium.
"No, I think in Karachi the humidity was more. Here it was bearable. But maybe for the bowlers it was hard bowling on a pitch which is excellent for batting," he said.
"It is easier batting here compared to Karachi because here the bounce is consistent and you can play your shots," Bashar said.
Bangladesh lost the first Test at Karachi by seven wickets on the fifth day on Sunday. It was only the third time they have taken a Test match into the fifth day in 22 outings.
The 32-year-old Bashar said that he was comfortable as long as he was scoring runs but said that Bangladesh should now make at least 400 plus in the first innings.
"The pitch is good for batting and we must make the most of our chance to bat first on it."
Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif said he was not satisfied with the efforts of his bowlers.
"The wicket has nothing in it and it is good for batting but I think our bowling could have been more disciplined," he said.
Pakistan are playing a Test at the Arbab Niaz stadium for the first time since March 2000, when they lost to Sri Lanka.
They also face South Africa here in the second Test from October 16 to 20.
