Umpire Russell Tiffin of Zimbabwe succumbed to heat and humidity during the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh on Thursday, leaving the field during the afternoon with stomach cramps and exhaustion.

Television umpire Asad Rauf took over. Rauf's duties were taken on by Iqbal Butt while another first-class umpire, Sajjad Asghar, had to be called from home to act as reserve umpire.

The conditions at the Arbab Niaz Stadium, in Peshawar, also affected Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar.

He suffered vomiting and dizzy spells on the first day and bowled on Thursday with the help of an ice jacket.
