Forced to follow-on, hosts Baroda were struggling to save defeat in their 'Elite Group 'A' Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh on the third day at the IPCL ground in Vadodara on Friday.
Baroda were 69 runs for the loss of four wickets in their second innings and still needed 155 runs to save the match.
Resuming at their overnight first innings score of 34 for one, Baroda were bowled out for a paltry 249 in the first innings in response to Uttar Pradesh's score of 473.
Satyajit Parab and night-watchman Valmik Buch managed to add 31 runs for second wicket before Parab (31) was sent back.
Soon Rakesh Solanki followed him without adding a single run and the third wicket fell at a score of 58 runs.
After this, three wickets, those of captain Jacob Martin (6), Buch (13) and Shatrunjay Gaekwad (2) fell in a span of eight overs.
However, former India stumper Nayan Mongia (85) offered stubborn resistance to prevent a collapse by staying at the wicket for 249 minutes. He faced 172 balls and hit 11 fours.
Mongia added 59 runs for the seventh wicket with Tushar Arothe before the latter was out leg before.
Zaidi took four wickets, conceding 75 runs, while Mishra took three wickets for 77 runs.
Twenty-seven minutes after tea, Baroda were all out for 249 and things did not go well for them in the second innings also.
The hosts lost four wickets for 69 runs, losing Satyajit Parab, Rishikesh Parab, Rakesh Solanki and Buch.
Captain Jacob Martin (19) amd Mongia (9) were at the crease when stumps were drawn.
