With hopes of qualifying for the semifinals already dashed, Delhi played slowly but steadily to reach 155 for one against Andhra on the third day of the Elite group 'A' Ranji Trophy match.

Delhi, who needed just 33 minutes in the morning to remove the remaining three Andhra wickets, lost Rajat Bhatia (34) in their reply to the hosts' first innings score of 438.

With Railways and Mumbai qualifying for the knock-out stage from the group, Delhi could at most grab two points from the match—if they take the first innings lead—as a result is unlikely with just one day remaining.

At stumps today, stand-in skipper Vijay Dahiya was batting on 71 while Pururaj Singh on 45.

The duo added 104 runs for the second wicket after Bhatia's dismissal to left-arm spinner Shankar Rao at the score of 51.

Dahiya, who is leading the side in the absence of Mithun Manhas, came after Bhatia's departure and played cautiously for his knock, which came from 213 balls and included six fours and a six.

Earlier, resuming at the overnight score of 417 for seven, RV Prasad completed his half-century (54 not out). But he was left stranded on one end as Sanjay Gill sent the remaining three batsmen packing.

Gill was the main wicket taker for Delhi with figures of 4 for 81 while Kunal Lal returned with two for 91.
