Captain Sourav Ganguly gave reporters the slip on Friday morning as the Indian team landed at the Mumbai airport, back from a disastrous New Zealand tour.

Ganguly left from the rear exit of the airport. When contacted on his cellphone, Ganguly said: "I have spoken enough to the media. The series has ended. There is nothing much that I can say."

Soon after, he boarded a flight to Kolkata.

The Indian team lost the test series in New Zealand 0-2 and the one-day series 2-5.

Star batsman Sachin Tendulkar too left from the side exit, while the Indian vice-captain Rahul Dravid and his Karnataka teammates Javagal Srinath and Anil Kumble got off at Bangalore.

All-rounder Sanjay Bangar said things did not go as planned, but maintained that the players were in a positive frame of mind and were looking forward to the World Cup in South Africa from February 8.

Others who landed in Mumbai were Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan and Yuvraj Singh.
