Yet to strike form in his county debut season, Yuvraj Singh made just 11 runs but was lucky to end up on the winning side as Yorkshire scored an 18-run victory over Kent in a National League tie at Scarborough on Sunday evening.

Put in to bat first, Yorkshire lost both their overseas batsmen, New Zealander Stephen Fleming and Yuvraj Singh, and also Michael Lumb in a testing spell by Ben Trott. But neither Fleming nor Yuvraj Singh seemed impressed by the decisions and had to be nearly dragged from the crease.

Fleming fell to a brilliant one-handed catch by Geriant Jones in the second over but presumably felt he had made no contact.

The Indian left-hander was unconvinced that an edge to second slip, where James Tredwell held another stunner, had carried.

Sri Lanka's ace spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who joined Kent last Tuesday, had moderate success in the match returning figures of two for 25.

Starting his spell when the home side was 67 for three after 14 overs, the wily off-spinner took a wicket in his third over when Vic Craven was caught off an inside edge.

Later he bowled Andy Gray behind his legs when he tried to sweep the first ball of his second spell.

Chasing 180 for a win, Kent were bundled out for 179 in 43.5 overs with Craven claiming four wickets for 28 runs.
