Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Sami has been ruled out of the home series against Bangladesh with an ankle injury.

A Pakistan cricket boardĀ spokesman told Reuters that Sami had twisted his ankle while playing for English county Kent and would be out of action for a minimum of six weeks.

"The PCB and Pakistan team doctor Tauseef Razak have also confirmed to us that Sami requires at least six weeks to recover from the injury," spokesman Samiul Hasan said.

"Sami will be returning home soon to start treatment on his injury. Although his contract (with Kent) was until August 10, he was available for the Bangladesh series."

Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar will also skip the series, which starts on August 20.

Shoaib got permission from the board to miss the series as he is playing for English county Durham until September 17th.

Sami and Shoaib have taken over the new ball attack for Pakistan with considerable success after Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were axed from the team following the World Cup.
