England upbeat over Vaughan
England are confident that captain Michael Vaughan will be fit for their next triangular series match after a scan on his injured back revealed no serious damage.
The 28-year-old pulled out of England's triangular series one-day international against South Africa at The Oval on Saturday after suffering a back spasm during pre-match practice.
He was sent to hospital for a scan and afterwards England spokesman Andrew Walpole said: "The scan was fine. We're treating it as a soft tissue injury and we are optimistic that he will play against Zimbabwe at Headingley on Tuesday."
Marcus Trescothick took over the captaincy with Warwicshire left-hander Jim Troughton taking Vaughan's place in the team.
Yorkshire batsman Vaughan has missed large chunks of England's recent international programme with injuries.
Calf trouble forced him out of England's Test series in Pakistan during the 2000-01 season and he missed the whole of the home Ashes series against Australia in 2001 with a knee injury.
He then suffered a combination of shoulder, calf and knee problems, the latter requiring an operation, which ruled him out of the majority of England's pre-World Cup one-day series in Australia.
Bangladesh loses tour opener by 29 runs
Bangladesh lost its Australian tour opener by 29 runs today on the third day of a four-day cricket match with a Queensland Academy of Sport invitation side.
Set 175 for victory, Bangladesh was dismissed for 145 after tea at Allan Border Field.
Earlier, the local team's last three wickets added 23 to its overnight total before being dismissed for 176.
Bangladesh lost a wicket in its first over and was 43-2 at lunch.
However, the tourists lost five wickets in the middle session anng at 111-7 at tea. The last three wickets added 34 runs in 14.5 overs.
Top order batsmen Hannan Sarker and Habibul Bashar were joint top scorers with 33 while all-rounder Alok Kapali made 27 and wicketkeeper Khaled Mashud contributed 24.
The wickets were shared among five Queensland bowlers with paceman Damien MacKenzie taking 3-28, and medium pacer
James Hopes and spinner Chris Simpson two each. Bangladesh's next match is a three-day game at the same venue against the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy starting on Thursday. Bangladesh will play two Test matches and three one-dayers against Australia in July.
