Seven players who have never represented New Zealand in a one-day international have been named in the 15-man squad to play five matches in Pakistan beginning next week.

Four established players are unavailable -- Craig McMillan, Scott Styris, Ian Butler and Lou Vincent -- and captain Stephen Fleming and Nathan Astle are out because of injury.

Kyle Mills is also missing with a viral infection.

Matthew Horne and Andre Adams have also opted out of the tour without explanation. Last week, New Zealand players received death threats by e-mail in Pakistan where security officials are searching for the culprit.

Fast bowler Shane Bond, who is in the final stages of rehabilitation from injury, was not considered.

Mathew Sinclair, is recalled, as so is Hamish Marshall, a replacement batsman to South Africa in 2000-2001 who made 40 in his only Test innings and has not been used since.

ANOTHER CHANCE

Medium fast bowler Kerry Walmsley, who was also on that tour, has been recalled for the first time since and batsman Richard Jones, who was in India for the Test series only but was not used, gets another chance to shine.

"The absence of several established players has paved the way for some others and they will now get their opportunity," selection manager Richard Hadlee said.

"For the selectors this is exciting as we will now get to learn something about the new players' capabilities at international level."

Squad:

Chris Cairns (captain, Canterbury), Tama Canning (Auckland), Craig Cumming (Otago), Chris Harris (Canterbury), Paul Hitchcock (Wellington), Richard Jones (Wellington), Hamish Marshall (Northern Districts), Michael Mason (Central Districts), Brendon McCullum (Otago), Jacob Oram (Central Districts), Mathew Sinclair (Central Districts), Daryl Tuffey (Northern Districts), Daniel Vettori (Northern Districts), Matthew Walker (Wellington), Kerry Walmsley (Auckland).

The revised itinerary for the tour is:

November 29 - Lahore (D/N)

December

1 - Lahore (D/N)

3 - Faisalabad

5 - Rawalpindi (D/N)

7 - Rawalpindi (D/N)
