Factfile on Rahul Dravid, who scored a career-best 222 in the first Test against New Zealand on Thursday.

Born: January 11, 1973. Right-hand bat. One-day wicketkeeper.

Test debut: v England, Lord's, June 1996.

Currently playing 70th Test. Has scored 5,836 runs at 55.05. 15 centuries. Also played 207 one-day internationals with 6,499 runs at 39.15.

1999: Becomes the third Indian to score centuries in both innings of a Test against New Zealand in Hamilton.

Scores 145 off 129 balls against Sri Lanka at the World Cup in England. Finishes the tournament with top aggregate of 461 runs at 65.85.

2000: Named as one of Wisden's five cricketers of the year.

2001: Scores 180 while Vangipurappu Laxman makes 281 in a fifth-wicket stand of 376 as India defeat Australia after following on to end Australia's 16-Test winning streak.

2002: During tour of England, scores 115 in the second innings of the drawn second Test, 148 in his only innings in India's Trent Bridge victory before hitting 217 in the first innings of the fourth and final Test at The Oval.

Hits 100 against West Indies in the first Test in Bombay to become the fourth player after West Indian Everton Weekes, Australian Jack Fingleton and South African Alan Melville to score centuries in four consecutive Test innings.

2003: Smashes a career-best 222 for his 15th Test century against New Zealand to become only the second Indian batsman to score three double-centuries after Sunil Gavaskar.
