South Africa's cricketers are to be consulted over the next 24 hours before a final decision is taken on whether they will tour Pakistan.
A three-man delegation from the United Cricket Board travelled to Pakistan last week to review security arrangements for the team, which is due to leave on Sunday.
In a media statement, the UCB said on Wednesday their Board of directors had decided to brief the players again and to address any concerns.
The UCB have already asked for matches in Peshawar and Karachi be rescheduled, although the Pakistan Cricket Board says it does not believe the games need to be moved.
South Africa are due to play three one-day internationals and three Tests between September 26 and October 27.
Pakistan has been a no-go zone for most cricketing nations since the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. In May 2002, a suicide bomb outside a Karachi hotel where the New Zealand team were staying prompted a cancellation of the tour.
