The medical commission, probing the spate of injuries to key Pakistan players during the recent cricket series against India, has said there are "several views" on the injury to Shoaib Akhtar who, in turn, insisted that he had a "medically documented" rib injury justifying his keeping off the field in the third Test against India in Rawalpindi.

"There are several views in the commission on Shoaib's injury," Chairman of the medical commission Dr M A Wajid told BBC Radio Hindi service shortly after the speedster appeared before the panel on Wednesday.

Dr Wajid said he would submit the panel's report, including its final decision on Shoaib, to the Pakistan Cricket Board by next Friday.

Shoaib, who also spoke to BBC Radio, said he had a "medically documented rib injury" and that he had told the team management about it as well as his inability to bowl in the third Test which India went on to win by an innings and 131 runs.

The controversial bowler claimed that his report presented to the committee confirmed that he "had a slight injury on the 11th rib, which was evident in the scan".

He said the injury "has since healed, partially", as he has been "resting for the past fortnight".

When asked whether the medical commission was satisfied with his version and the report, the 'Rawalpindi Express'  said: "I have made my statement to the commission, and it is for them to decide."
