The 20-year-old is hoping to get advice from Imran, who had to stop bowling for over two years due to a stress fracture in his left shin bone.
"Imran is the best example of a fast bowler who overcame a career-threatening injury to make a successful comeback. I think his guidance would be invaluable," said Gul on Friday after arriving home from South Africa where his injury was diagnosed this week.
Gul has not bowled since April when he took match-winning figures of five for 31 against India in the second Test at Lahore.
"I will talk to Imran and ask him how he managed to cope with such a frustrating situation and injury that has seen the careers of many other fast bowlers destroyed," Gul said.
The youngster has taken 25 wickets in five Tests at an average of 24.56 and 19 wickets in 15 one-day internationals at 27.31.
Imran, now 52, took 362 wickets in 82 Tests and 182 in 175 one-day internationals between 1973 and 1992.
