The Indian Government gave the green signal to the Chittagong leg of the Indian cricket team's tour of Bangladesh after it was agreed to strengthen security arrangements there.
"On the basis of security team's report, Government is advising the BCCI to go-ahead with the matches in Chittagong," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said at New Delhi on Thursday.
The Dhaka leg of the tour, where the first Test will be played, has already been cleared.
"We have now received assessment of the Indian security team that went to Chittagong. The team made a full assessment of the security arrangements in consultation with Bangladesh authorities," he said.
The joint inspections covered the venues, hotels and other areas where the Indian cricket team would be expected to be present, he said.
The security team made specific recommendations for strengthening security arrangements and these have been accepted by the Bangladesh authorities, he said.
The Government's decision to clear Chittagong has paved the way for the full tour to proceed without any disruptions.
While the Test series has been postponed by just one day, the schedule of the three-match one-day series remains unchanged.
India plays the first Test in Dhaka tomorrow which will be followed by the second in Chittagong from December 17. The first of the three one-day matches is slated in Chittagong and the remaining in Dhaka.
The tour had come under a cloud after a militant outfit, identifying itself as Harkat-ul-Zihadi, threatened to kill the Indian players if they toured the country.
The Indian team landed in Dhaka yesterday amidst unprecedented security arrangements.
