Mumbai skipper Sairaj Bahutule took 5 for 52 to help his team register an innings and 64-run victory over Gujarat on the fourth and final day of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'A' match at Mumbai on Thursday.

The hosts gained five points from the win for a total of 17 points and made it to the semi-finals.

The Ranji champions, who had taken a massive 235-run first innings lead yesterday, bowled out their opponents for a paltry 171 runs off 60.2 overs in just 106 minutes of play today.

Needing 133 runs to make the hosts bat again, the Gujarat team, which was without the services of Parthiv Patel and skipper Mukund Parmar (both nursing injuries), buckled under some sustained bowling by Bahutule and off spinner Ramesh Powar (two for 49).

Resuming at their overnight score of 102 for two, the visitors looked on course to avoid an innings defeat, especially after the two not out batsmen Niraj Patel (42, 4x8) and Kirat Damani (44, 4x8) added 51 runs for the third wicket off 21.1 overs.

However, once Patel was run out, going for a quick run after Nishit Shetty sent an accurate throw to bowler Usman Malvi, the scene changed dramatically.

With Damani too offering a simple catch to Wasim Jaffer in the slips off Bahutule, the visitors found themselves in real trouble at 113 for four and with very little batting to come.

Powar then made his presence felt when he had Bhavik Thakkar (4) clean bowled, and then Hitesh Majumdar was caught by Nilesh Kulkarni for one.

From the other end, Bahutule had Timil Patel stumped by wicketkeeper Vinayak Samant for six and then dismissed Lalit Patel (17) caught by Powar to polish off the tail with Ashraf Makda remaining unbeaten on two.

The visitors in their first innings had scored 232.
