Sri Lanka cricket officials will meet later on Monday to discuss whether they will continue with their tour of New Zealand after devastating tsunami waves killed about 4,500 people in the country, team officials said.
Team manager Brendon Kuruppu said one player's mother had been hurt when the quake-generated waves crashed ashore but would not give the player's name.
"We are really worried but we need to speak to the guys and see how we take it (the tour) from here," Kuruppu told the New Zealand Press Association.
"It's a disaster in Sri Lanka, we're in shock and having a nightmare," he said.
Sri Lanka played New Zealand in the first of five scheduled one-day international matches on Sunday.
New Zealand won the match in Auckland by seven wickets with the second scheduled for Napier on Wednesday.
Sri Lanka and New Zealand are also set to play two Tests, in Hamilton from January 15-19 and Wellington from January 22-26.
