Nicky Boje and Mfuneko Ngam have returned from injury to make the South Africa squad to tour New Zealand this month.

Left-arm spinner Boje broke his ankle in a one-day international against England last July, while fast bowler Ngam has not played international cricket for three seasons due to a series of stress fractures.

Ngam has had a full domestic season, but Boje has only played one match this summer.

"It's fantastic to have Ngam back, we know what he can do," selection convenor Omar Henry told a media conference on Monday.

"The medical report says they're fit and ready to play, they're both key players."

"We're also looking to the sub-continent where spin is very important," Henry said, with reference to South Africa's tours to Sri Lanka in August and to India in November.

South Africa play New Zealand in six one-dayers, the first in Auckland on February 13, before taking part in three Tests.

Batsmen Boeta Dippenaar and Ashwell Prince, left-arm spinner Robin Peterson and all rounder Lance Klusener will return to South Africa after the one-day series to be replaced by left-arm wrist spinner Paul Adams and batsmen Gary Kirsten, Neil McKenzie and Martin van Jaarsveld.

All rounder Albie Morkel was the only uncapped player in the squad of 15 named for the one-dayers while wicketkeeper-batsman Morne van Wyk is the only omission from the squad involved in the current one-day series against the West Indies.

Squad:

Graeme Smith (captain), Mark Boucher, Nicky Boje, Boeta Dippenaar, Herschelle Gibbs, Jacques Kallis, Lance Klusener, Albie Morkel, Mfuneko Ngam, Andre Nel, Makhaya Ntini, Robin Peterson, Shaun Pollock, Ashwell Prince, Jacques Rudolph.

* Dippenaar, Prince, Peterson and Klusener replaced by Paul Adams, Gary Kirsten, Neil McKenzie and Martin van Jaarsveld for Test series.
