The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is in favour of the Indian cricket team touring Pakistan.

RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said his organisation favoured sporting activities -- particularly cricketing ties -- between India and Pakistan as long as it enhanced people-to-people contact.

"In principle," Madhav told reporters on Friday, "we have no objection to sporting ties between our two countries as long as they enhance man-to-man contacts. If this is ensured, then certainly we should play against each other."

"But if either the Indian or Pakistani government feels that instead of enhancing ties Indo-Pak sporting activities create hindrances then certainly they should give it thought," the RSS spokesman clarified.

He pointed out that RSS leaders were fans of cricket, particularly the late sarsanghchalak (chief) Professor Rajendra Singh.

"Security is an issue about which the players' families are worried about. We have to ensure the safety and security of our players," Madhav said, adding that the Board of Control for Cricket in India has to take responsibility for the Indian team's safety.
