"The doctors have certified that I'm fit and fully recovered," Kaif said.
"I started batting in the nets two days ago. There are no problems and I feel no discomfort," he said.
Kaif had sustained the injury in December in a series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka's A teams.
The 23-year-old has been a key member of India's one-day team with 1,170 runs in 59 matches at 30.78.
His most memorable knock was an unbeaten 87 against England in a triangular final at Lord's in 2002 to help India chase a mammoth 326 for victory.
Kaif had been replaced by left-hander Rohan Gavaskar, son of former India captain Sunil, for the one-dayers in Australia.
India will play a five-match one-day series in Pakistan, starting in Karachi on March 13, followed by three Tests.
