Pakistan are confident that quick bowler Shabbir Ahmed will be available for India's visit next month after undergoing corrective work on his action.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesman Samiul Hasan said on Thursday that the first reports from Perth in Australia, where Ahmed has been working on his action, suggested there was no cause for major concern.

"He is working with experts like Daryl Foster who have helped Shoaib Akhtar in the past," Hasan said.

"We are confident Ahmed's action will be cleared by the experts and we can send an all-clear report to the International Cricket Council."

Ahmed, who has played six Tests and 19 one-day internationals, was reported in January after the fifth and final one-day international against New Zealand. Foster is one of the world's leading bowling coaches and has previously accompanied Pakistan on foreign tours.

Hasan said the bowler had been asked to return home by the end of February. India are due to arrive in Pakistan on March 10 and play five one-day international followed by three Tests.

Ahmed has been reported three times for a suspect action, including once after his one-day debut against West Indies in 1999.
