Cronje crash report due in May

The results of the investigation into the aircraft crash in which former South Africa cricket captain Hansie Cronje died will be made public in May, the country's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said on Friday.

"The report is complete, and the CAA accident investigation sub-board will meet on May 5," the CAA's senior communications manager, Moses Seate, said from Pretoria on Friday.

"They could release the report the same day or shortly thereafter."

Cronje died on June 1, 2002 at the age of 32 when the aircraft he was aboard crashed into a hillside in bad weather near his home town of George 350 km east of Cape Town.

Cronje was banned from professional cricket for life in 2000 for his involvement in match-fixing.
