Adding flavour to the cricket season, a biography of the legendary Lala Amarnath hit the stands. Lala Amarnath was the first captain of independent India in 1948.

Penned by youngest of his three sons, Rajender Amarnath, the book - Making of a legend - traces the career of the
cricketer right from his boy-hood days, when he played for an all Muslim Club.

The book, released by his wife, Kailash Kumari, at a function in New Delhi, also gives an "authentic" account of the 1936 controversy on India's England tour. Amarnath was sent back following an outburst against the Maharajkumar of Vizianagram.

Mohinder Amarnath, who was also present on the occasion, said "the book makes an interesting reading as it details
anecdotes and incidents narrated to Rajender by family members."

However, Mohinder said "the book was entirely the effort of Rajender, who has carefully researched before sitting down to write the much-awaited book."
