England cruised to a seven-wicket victory courtesy of a Marcus Trescothick half century after the West Indies were bowled out for 159 in a triangular series One-Day International at Headingley on Thursday.
Trescothick passed the 3,000 one-day runs mark as the hosts dragged themselves back into the series in 22 overs after losing their first two matches.
He was run out for 55 when bowler Ian Bradshaw got a fingertip on a straight drive from Andrew Strauss.
Dwayne Bravo took the West Indies' other two wickets with Michael Vaughan (14) edging a very wide ball to Chris Gayle at slip and Robert Key (6) being bowled through the gate.
Andrew Flintoff, who had been all but ruled out of the series with of a foot injury, played solely as a batsman and scored 21 not out off 18 balls.
England, who have lost their last nine games batting first, have been bowled out for 147 and 101 by West Indies and New Zealand so far in the series.
They have now won their last 12 matches when chasing and Vaughan showed no hesitation in putting West Indies in after winning the toss at Leeds.
"It was a decent toss to win. The stats suggest chasing teams are winning more games," Vaughan said. "We saw it home well but our fielding and bowling was excellent."
Pace bowlers James Anderson and Steve Harmison snapped up three wickets each to help dismiss the West Indies in 40.1 overs.
Anderson took three for 37, including the prize scalp of Brian Lara, who showed poor foot movement and dragged a wide, full ball onto his stumps for six.
"It was a good batting track and we played a couple of bad shots," Lara said. "Maybe we needed a bit more discipline...a bit more fight in the bowling department."
Harmison utilised the swinging conditions to grab figures of three for 31.
Paul Collingwood also took a memorable one-handed catch at gully to dismiss the dangerous Ramnaresh Sarwan (46) off a log hop from occasional bowler Trescothick.
England join the West Indies in the table on nine points with New Zealand ahead on 12.
West Indies face New Zealand in the next match in Cardiff on Saturday.
