Pakistan has agreed to play a one-day international match against India on November 14 to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Pakistan Cricket BoardĀ chairman Shaharyar Khan said on Thursday the match would take place in India at a venue to be announced by the Indian board.

"They wanted us to play a series of three matches as part of their jubilee celebrations in November. But we opted for the one-off game," said Khan.

He said India wanted to play against Pakistan because the Indian board was constituted when both countries were part of an undivided India.

The two neighbouring nations, who have fought three wars since their independence in 1947, resumed bilateral cricket ties after a three-year freeze in March this year. India won both the one-day and Test series in Pakistan.

Pakistan and India are in Sri Lanka preparing for the Asia Cup tournament that starts on Friday and will play in a triangular one-day series in Holland in August before meeting in the ICC Champions Trophy in England in September.
