India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel says standing up to spinners Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh is very difficult because the duo have variety in their armoury.

"It is a tedious task to stand behind the wickets since there is more variety in the bowling when these two spinners bowl," Patel told reporters in Ludhiana on Friday.

The 19-year-old stumper, who calls Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist his idol, said he is currently concentrating on improving his batting in order to break into the Indian one-day squad.

"It is a plus point if a wicketkeeper is among runs."

India vice-captain Rahul Dravid has been doubling up as wicketkeeper in the shorter version of the game since the World Cup in South Africa last year to add more depth to the batting.

Parthiv said he gained a lot of experience from the Pakistan tour as he got a chance to face the likes of Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami.

The stumper, on a promotional visit to Ludhiana, said he is preparing for the Asia Cup, to be held in Sri Lanka in July.
