Moin keen on a strong comeback

His place in the team may be under threat but an out-of-form Pakistan wicketkeeper Moin Khan is confident of making a strong comeback for the next two games of the ongoing triangular cricket series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Moin missed the last two games against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka due to a chest infection and coach Bob Woolmer opted to give the gloves to batsman Younis Khan instead of trying out a specialist keeper.

"Look, Younis is not a regular wicketkeeper and he was called up since I was ill. I don't feel threatened by him taking over my position and I am confident I will make a strong comeback in the last two games against Sri Lanka," Moin was quoted as saying in local daily The News.

"I am feeling better now after taking antibiotics. I got the chest infection in Peshawar and had high temperature. I was feeling really weak. But now I am okay and will start training tomorrow. Hopefully everything will settle down once come back," he added. Pakistan have already qualified for the tri-series final and play their next match against Sri Lanka on October 14 in Lahore.

Moin, who has scored just 81 runs in his last ten one-day innings, also said he was also not worried about his slump in batting form.

"I am not in bad form. It is just bad luck that I am not getting enough time out in the middle. I am middling the ball well and I am confident. I have been through such times before," he said.

The veteran keeper also said he was confident of making it to the team for the Test series against Sri Lanka and the tour of Australia in December despite skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq hinting recently that a new 'keeper could be tried out in the Test matches.
