Day 4 report | Images

Virender Sehwag was summoned by ICC Match Referee Ranjan Madugalle for disciplinary hearing after the fourth day's play in the first cricket Test against Australia in Bangalore on Saturday.

The India opener exchanged words with New Zealand umpire Billy Bowden while returning to the pavilion after he adjudged him leg before wicket to Aussie pacer Glenn McGrath during India's second innings.

Television replays showed that the dashing opener had got an edge to the ball, which deflected on to his pad. Sehwag was out without scoring.

Madugalle said the umpires had reported Sehwag.

India coach John Wright accompanied the batsman to the hearing, the verdict of which will be announced on Sunday.

Madugulle said normally the concerned player's Board is informed about the outcome of the hearing and announces it, but because of a court order restraining the office-bearers of the BCCI from functioning, he would make the announcement.
