The marketing agents of Irfan Pathan clarified on Tuesday that the left-arm paceman did not flout the ICC's ambush marketing clause and claimed that the advertisement campaigns featuring Pathan were withdrawn before the start of the Champions Trophy.

The clarification from the player's manager, Lokesh Sharma, came a day after the game's governing body warned Pathan and India captain Sourav Ganguly for alleged breach of its clause, which prevents players from endorsing products whose interests are in direct conflict with those of the official sponsors.

"To the best of our knowledge there are no Irfan Pathan's hoardings anywhere in the country," Sharma said.

"Such unsubstantiated and scurrilous allegations are unfair and can have an adverse effect on the image of Pathan, who is not only a disciplined, young, successful cricketer but is also referred to as a role model," Sharma said.

He also said that they had informed Tata Indicom on September 6 to stop using Pathan in their campaigns and the company confirmed that they would stop the campaign immediately.
