Pakistan Cricket Board has requested their Indian counterpart to finalise soon the venues for matches to be played during its team's tour of India as they are "running out of time" to work on important logistical details.
"We are running out of time since we have a lot of logistical details to work out for the tour which is very important.
"I think we will now have to give them [BCCI] a deadline for confirming the venues. And if they are still undecided then perhaps we might suggest some [venues] to them," PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan was quoted as saying in 'The News' on Monday.
The BCCI was supposed to announce the venues on Monday but has extended the date for finalising the venues for the Pakistan team's tour to January 15.
"They were supposed to let us know the venues by January 3. But now I have been told this date has been extended to the 15th," Shaharyar said.
The BCCI has sent only a tentative itinerary to the PCB suggesting that the tour would begin from February 26.
Pakistan is scheduled to tour India to play three Tests and five One-day Internationals, for the first time since early 1999.
Shaharyar said Pakistan would prefer if the tour began and ended at the venues closer to the India-Pakistan border so that Pakistanis could easily make it to those places.
"The way we look at it, the tour should start with a Test at Mohali and end with a one-dayer at Chandigarh which are the closest cities to our border and it would be easier for our people to visit India and these venues for the matches."
The PCB chief said Pakistan would have no objection to playing Tests at Bangalore, Chennai or Kolkata.
"The one-dayers can be spread over any venues because they have many in India. Yes we have some reservations over playing in Mumbai, but in the end we will leave this decision to the Indian cricket authorities," he said.
He said Pakistan also wanted to know about the venues so that it could send a security team there before tour.
"It would be a routine visit but important in the sense that it would help us and the BCCI put every detail into place before our team reaches there [India]," Shaharyar said.
