Injured South African pace bowler Charl Langeveldt has not been ruled out for the fourth Test against England the United Cricket Board (UCB) said on Wednesday, reversing an earlier statement he could be out for the rest of the series.

The UCB had said that debutant Langeveldt, who broke his left hand while batting in the third Test in Cape Town on Monday, would probably miss the rest of the five-match series as well as the seven one-day internationals.

However UCB spokesman Gerald de Kock said on Wednesday that Langeveldt, who took five for 46 in England's first innings, would wear a specially designed splint while batting and had not been ruled out of any future matches.

"He will be reassessed in seven days' time, and he is not out of the equation for the fourth Test," De Kock said.

The fourth Test starts in Johannesburg on January 13.
