Baroda beat Maharashtra by 57 runs to score five points and win the Ramakant Desai trophy for leading the West Zone Ranji Trophy competition in Ahmedabad on Monday.
After Baroda batsmen managed to pile up a good score of 259, their bowlers tore apart the Maharashtra batting line up to dismiss them for 202.
Barring the resistance from Hrishikesh Kanitkar, who scored 91 runs other Maharashtra batsmen caved in meekly.
Connor Williams and Satyajit Parab gave a good start to the Baroda team by scoring 61 and 40 runs respectively.
The next batsmen Yusuf Pathan and Jacob Martin also chipped in with a decent score of 47 and 41 runs each.
Maharashtra Anupam Sanklecha took two wickets while Ranjit Khirid, A Tibrewala, Ajinkya Joshi, Amit Patil and Hrishikesh Kanitkar took one wicket each.
Maharashtra were in deep trouble when they lost their two openers Dhruv Mohan and Dhiraj Jadhav when they had scored one and 21 runs respectively.
A fine score of 91 by Hrishikesh Kanitkar failed to lift the fortune of the team as other batsmen could not remain on the crease. The next highest score was of not out batsman Ashish Tibrewala who made 22 runs.
For Baroda Ajit Bhoite took three wickets while Irfan Pathan and Sankalp Vora both took two wickets each.
