Nel to keep up aggression

South African fast bowler Andre Nel says he will not water down his aggressive approach despite the umpires in the fifth Test with England telling him not to swear at batsmen.

Nel ended up with career-best figures of six for 81 in England's first innings 359 before South Africa stumbled to 59 for two in their second innings, still 53 runs behind, at the close on day four.

"I will always be aggressive on the field and if people don't like it then it's tough," he told reporters on Monday.

"I will never be people's favourite cricketer, but all I'm worried about is the respect of my side."

Nel said the in-swinging yorker he delivered to bowl England top-scorer Graham Thorpe for 86 was "my best ball in my Test career" but the 27-year-old avoided making any comment on the host of lbw appeals he had turned down.

"I've got a big enough rap sheet. I've had enough trouble and I don't need anymore," the controversial Nel added.

He also said his team would be searching for quick runs on the last morning in the faint hope of winning the final game and squaring the series at 2-2.

"There is still a small chance we can win if we can go out and score some quick runs and get 200 ahead," Nel said.

The fast bowler, playing in his first Test since March 2004, said his team would take heart from England's success in bowling South Africa out in two sessions to win the fourth Test in Johannesburg last week.

"England bowled us out in two sessions and I know it's not the same sort of wicket here, but you never know," Nel said.
