Scotland celebrated qualifying for the 2007 Cricket World Cup on Wednesday with a 47-run victory over Ireland in the final of the ICC Trophy in Clontarf.

Scotland booked their place in the World Cup by reaching the semi-finals of the tournament along with Bermuda, Canada and Ireland. Holland scraped in after a fifth-place play off victory over the United Arab Emirates.

Ryan Watson top-scored for Scotland with 94 as his side posted an impressive 324 for eight from 50 overs. In reply Ireland reached 277 for nine.

The ICC Trophy acts as a feeder tournament for less established cricket nations to join the sport's big guns at the World Cup which is being staged in the West Indies.

Scotland's dubious reward for winning the title is to be grouped with world champions Australia, South Africa and Holland in Pool 1 in St Kitts.

The fixtures schedule for the 2007 showpiece, along with tournament dates, will be announced on July 19 in Trinidad.
