Pakistani cricket authorities are concerned with the heavy workload on their key leg spinner Danish Kaneria in the English county championship.

The 24-year old has bowled 134 overs in two championship games for Essex, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is worried it might lead to a breakdown.

"We want them to nurse him through the season as we have a lot of cricket coming up from November," the PCB's Director of Cricket Operations Saleem Altaf said.

He said the board would be writing to Essex asking them to reduce their demands on the leg spinner who has taken 132 wickets in 28 Tests.

Kaneria is in his second season with Essex after taking over 60 first-class wickets last year.

He bowled 63.4 overs and took eight for 157 in Essex's win over Northamptonshire this month.

Pakistan host England for three Tests and five one-day internationals later this year.

They play three Tests and five one-day internationals against India early next year before tours of Sri Lanka and England.
