West Indies elect to bat against India

West Indies captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul won the toss and elected to bat in of the second one-day international of the IndianOil Cup against India at the Rangiri Dambulla International stadium in Dambulla, Sri Lanka on Sunday.

The West Indies openers had not even made it to the pitch when the teams had to be ushered in as it started raining but play resumed soon after.

There were no changes in the Indian playing XI from the one that played against Sri Lanka at the same venue on Saturday.

Narsingh Deonarine and Denesh Ramdin will make their ODI debut for West Indies in the game. West Indies are missing some of their key one-day players like Biran Lara, Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Wavell Hinds because of the sponsorship dispute with the West Indies Cricket Board.

India lost their opening match of the series against Sri Lanka by three wickets. VVS Laxman has not still recuperated from the back injury.

West Indies team: X Marshall, R Morton, S Joseph, S Chanderpaul, R Powell, N Deonarine, D Smith, D Ramdin, T Best, D Powell, J Lawson.

India team: V Sehwag, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, R Dravid, M Kaif, S Raina, Y Venugopal Rao, I Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Z Khan, A Nehra.
