India's newly-appointed cricket coach, Greg Chappell has said that a bowling coach was not needed at the moment but added that the team may have to avail the services of experts in different areas in future.

"If we need a bowling coach, I am happy to have a bowling coach," he said while addressing a press conference on Thursday in Bangalore.

"It's not something that I see or being a top priority right at this moment.

"From time-to-time and in different conditions in different parts of the world, may be we need to call upon experts in that area and other areas.

"I have no problems with using different experts from different fields at different times," he said.

Chappell also said that Sachin Tendulkar's injury might give an opportunity to a youngster to make it big.

"It might be an opportunity for someone else who comes up as next champion cricketer for India. So, it might turn out to be a blessing in disguise," he said.

Chappell hastened to add: "Don't twist my words. I am not saying that it's a good thing that Sachin is injured. All I am saying is Sachin is injured; with that one has to make the most of the opportunity."

Stating that Tendulkar's injury should be accepted as a part of life, the coach said one has to do the best under the circumstance.

Asked if Tendulkar's injury is a matter of worry, he said: "More of a concern to Sachin, I am sure. He obviously wants to get fit. Nothing that we can do about that. Best thing that can happen to Sachin and Indian cricket is he gets fit. That's a process that will take so many weeks. In the meantime, we still got a job to do. We will do the best job we can with the available talent."

"It becomes an opportunity for someone else who may not have got the opportunity, if it wasn't for the fact that Sachin is injured," he said.

Chappell was keen to play a part in team selection.

He said sitting down with selectors or being in the selection panel would give him an opportunity to discuss "some philosophy" that he has, with the selectors who also have "philosophical ideas".

Chappell said having been a selector in the past in Australia and having worked with cricketers for years, he has often found that exchange of ideas and philosophy had helped matters.

"So, I am just looking forward to meeting and discussing with the BCCI and how they want to have things pan out," he said, adding "presently, I have an open mind".
