Pakistan may host India early next year before the 2006 Asia Cup, according to Pakistan Cricket Board assistant manager Asad Mustafa.

"PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan, who is in Kolkata, will have a meeting with the BCCI officials with the regard to the tour today," Asad said.

"The tour might take place somewhere in January or February, followed by the Asia Cup," he added.

India last toured Pakistan in 2004, and won both the Test and the One-Day international series.

Pakistan may also host the ICC Champions Trophy next year if India lose out on hosting the tournament because of tax concession issues.

Pakistan said it is ready to host next year's Champions Trophy if the ICC decides to move the event out of India.

ICC, which is seeking a 100 per cent tax exemption to stage the biennial event in India, said it would shift the event to Pakistan if India fails to decide on the tax issue by May.

India had also missed out on hosting the event in 2004 due to similar issues.
