With the proposed itinerary for England's tour of India later this year drawing flak from British administrators as well as media, the Board of Control for Cricket in India defended the schedule while keeping doors open for a possible review.

The BCCI said the venues were decided as per its rotational policy and nothing more should be made out of it.

"The England and Wales Cricket Board has written to us about the fixtures and we will look into it," Board secretary S K Nair said on Friday.

"The schedule has been drawn up as per our rotational policy and only the Working Committee can review it in case it is needed," he said, amidst reports in the British press that the BCCI agreed to reconsider the itinerary.

England are scheduled to play seven one-day internationals and three Test matches on their tour of India in March-April next year.

The one-day matches have been allotted to lesser-known venues like Guwahati, Kochi and Indore, which has not only irked ECB officials but also the media, which described the scheduling as "a calculated and deliberate insult".

A spokesman for the ECB was quoted as saying in the Times, London, that the BCCI promised to reconsider the proposed fixtures this month.
