Sri Lankan coach Tom Moody said captain Marvan Atapattu's decision to bat first on Saturday did not pay dividends and, maybe, the reverse could have helped the team.

"Looking at the past records, teams batting first here [Baroda] have won, but on the hindsight we should have done the reverse," Moody said after the Islanders lost by five wickets in the seventh and final match.

The young coach from Australia, however, warned that the Sri Lankans would be a different side when they return recharged following a break for the three-Test series in December.

"Despite the loss we will definitely bounce back when we come for the Tests. We have got a welcome break to recharge our batteries while India will be busy playing (against South Africa)," he said.

He also rested his faith on Sanath Jayasuriya, who miserably flopped in the series, making only 85 runs in six innings.

"Jayasuriya will also bounce back."

Moody, who was on his first away assignment with the Islanders, praised Indian players as well as the tracks.

"We always knew India are dangerous opponents. They are all good players. All the wickets were also good here," he said.
