England opener Marcus Trescothick has decided to stay with the team for the second Test against Pakistan starting on Sunday after reports he would return home for personal reasons.

Trescothick's father-in-law seriously hurt himself after falling from a ladder.

He said in statement on Friday that after discussing the matter with his family and team management he had decided to remain with the team and prepare for the second Test.

""The past few days have been very traumatic for my family, and I am naturally extremely concerned for my father-in-law," said Trescothick.

"Having talked with my family and the England captain and coach, I've decided to remain with the squad."

His father-in-law sustained a head injury but Trescothick said his condition was now stable.

Trescothick has been in top form, striking 124 in the first tour opener in Rawalpindi and than 193 in the first Test defeat in Multan.

Captain Michael Vaughan had said that he would like Trescothick to stay for the second Test as his presence was immense but he had left the decision up to him about returning home.
