Senior batsman Younis Khan will miss Pakistan's final Test against England to attend the funeral of his brother.

Younis flew to his hometown Mardan in the North-West Frontier Province on Sunday after the death of his older brother, who had been living in Ukraine.

"Younis will miss the Test as he has to attend the burial of his brother," Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq told Reuters.

"Younis's absence is a big loss for us as we are already without Shahid (Afridi) in this Test. But we have to make the most of the situation and ensure we hold our lead and try to build on it in the final Test."

Inzamam said Pakistan were considering calling up a cover for Younis for the Lahore Test, which starts on Tuesday, and several players who had been doing well on the domestic circuit were under consideration.

Discarded batsman Yasir Hameed and uncapped Rifatullah Momand are being considered but the Pakistan squad already includes two middle-order batsmen, Asim Kamal and Hasan Raza, who did not play in the second Test in Faisalabad.

Pakistan lead the three-match series 1-0 and came close to another win in Faisalabad on the final day when England were reduced to 20 for four chasing 285 runs for victory.

Younis has been one of Pakistan's most consistent batsman in their last five series and has scored three hundreds in his last six Tests.

Afridi, who scored 92 from 85 balls in the second Test and also took four for 95, has been banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for one Test and two one-day internationals for scuffing the pitch in Faisalabad.

"Both Younis and Shahid have been in good form in recent matches. It is now up to the other batsmen to stand up and grab their opportunities because we require a good total in this Test," the Pakistan captain said.

Inzamam said the pitch for the final Test appeared to be good for the spinners, which was an advantage for Pakistan as their spinners were bowling well.
