Harmison the best I've faced: Yousuf

Pakistan's Mohammad Yousuf paid tribute to Steve Harmison after a torrid time facing the England fast bowler on the second day of the third Test on Wednesday.

"The last time I faced such a fantastic spell it was in 2000 in the West Indies from Curtley Ambrose and Courtney Walsh. I think Harmison's spell today was better," the batsman said.

Although Harmison took just one wicket, he had the batsmen in all sorts of trouble with his pace and bounce, particularly veteran Yousuf.

"Today was a very testing spell for me," added Yousuf, who was 84 not out at the close after helping Pakistan reach 185 for four in reply to England's first innings total of 288.

Yousuf, batting at number four, said he had played according to a plan and knew the England bowlers would come at him on a pitch where there was plenty of bounce from one end.

He said he had come under pressure after captain Inzamam-ul-Haq retired hurt on 35.

"He is our best batsman and it did cause me concern to see him retire. But I got back to the job quickly. Because these things happen."

Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer said Inzamam had gone to hospital as a precautionary measure but appeared to have suffered only a bad bruise on his forearm.

Harmison said the third morning would be crucial for England to take early wickets as they did not have many runs to play with. There was a bit of carry in the pitch but no sideways movement and the bowlers had to work hard.

He praised the efforts of test debutant Liam Plunkett, whose catch dismissed Shoaib Malik for a duck off Matthew Hoggard before taking the wicket of Salman Butt, caught by wicketkeeper Geraint Jones, when Pakistan lost three early wickets.

"He was nervous going out to bat and more nervous when he went out to bowl. But he bowled really well for a 20-year old on his debut and he should be proud of his effort," said Harmison.
